The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Bimbilla, Mbow Mohammed, has withdrawn his resignation and communicated his intent to officially resume office on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Just a day earlier, he had stepped down from the role, with his resignation taking effect on Monday, May 18, 2026.
However, in a letter dated Tuesday, May 19, and addressed to the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, he explained that he had changed his decision after receiving strong support and encouragement from party members across different levels.
According to him, polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency executives, regional leaders, and national executives all appealed to him to remain in office.
He said the trust, concern, and unity shown by party members greatly influenced his decision to return.
Mbow Mohammed also thanked the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba, for his leadership and efforts to promote peace, reconciliation, and unity within the party.
After reflecting carefully on the situation, he said he now believes the party’s growth and success should come before personal interests.
“It is therefore in the supreme interest of the party, the constituency, and our shared vision towards victory in the 2028 general elections and beyond that, I accept the calls to return and continue serving in my capacity as Constituency Chairman,” parts of the letter stated.
In his earlier resignation letter to the Northern Regional Chairman, Mbow Mohammed explained that he had decided after carefully reflecting on his long service to the NPP since 1992.
He added that throughout the years, he had supported the party’s development with his finances, physical efforts, and personal dedication.
