The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will officially unveil Ghana football legend Asamoah Gyan as its new Ambassador on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Accra.

The ceremony will be held at the Pelican Hotel and is expected to begin at 7:00 PM. The event is designed to honour Gyan’s outstanding contribution to Ghana football and his long service to the national team over the years.

Asamoah Gyan is one of Ghana’s greatest footballers. He remains the country’s all-time top scorer and is widely remembered for his performances at multiple FIFA World Cup tournaments.

His goals and leadership helped the Black Stars achieve historic moments on the global stage, making him a national icon.

The new ambassadorial role will also be part of efforts to build strong support for the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

The GFA believes Gyan’s influence and popularity can help unite fans and boost excitement ahead of the tournament.

In his new role, Gyan will lead promotional campaigns and public engagements aimed at encouraging unity behind the Black Stars.

He will also be involved in corporate partnerships and activities designed to support the national team’s preparations for the World Cup.

Beyond the senior national team, Gyan will also work to promote youth football and the development of Colts football in Ghana.

He is expected to represent the GFA at official functions and help strengthen the connection between fans, players, and football authorities.

The GFA believes this move will help create a stronger bond between the team and the public as Ghana prepares for one of the biggest football tournaments in the world.
