Arsenal employees to pay own Budapest travel expenses

Arsenal have come under criticism after reports emerged that some club employees invited to attend the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest will have to pay for their own travel if they are not officially working at the match.

According to reports, Arsenal staff members who received invitations to the final on May 30 were offered match tickets, but many were informed they would need to cover their travel expenses themselves.

The estimated cost of flights and travel packages is believed to be close to €1,000 per person.

The issue has sparked debate among football observers, especially after French champions Paris Saint-Germain reportedly decided to fully pay for travel arrangements for employees attending the final.

Reports say PSG’s club leadership approved chartered flights and return travel for staff members as a reward for their contribution throughout the season.

The 2026 UEFA Champions League final will be played at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

It will be Arsenal’s first Champions League final appearance since 2006.

Many Arsenal supporters on social media expressed disappointment at the club’s reported stance, arguing that employees who helped the club throughout the campaign deserved full support for such a historic occasion.

Others, however, argued that the club is under no obligation to fund travel for employees who are not working during the match itself.
