A church building was sent tumbling in a rainstorm that hit Gomoa Akoti in the Central region on Sunday, October 9. Two died on the spot, a two-year-old and a 14-year-old.

Five others who sustained various degrees of injury are receiving treatment at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba.

The storm began in the early hours of Sunday as church service was already in session.

The Head Pastor of the New Heaven of Grace Chapel, where the incident happened, said they noticed the church building shaking because of strong winds during the storm.

Prophet Peter Osei Owusu indicated that the strong wind prevented them from going out of the church as they were afraid for their lives.

He explained that a gust of wind struck the church, causing it to collapse.

The bodies have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and preservation.

The Head Pastor of the Church, narrated the incident to Citi News which was monitored by the Ghana Report.
