Three persons have been arrested by the Sakumono District Police Command for the alleged lynching of Austin Tengeeh, a 26-year-old Liberian.
The individuals currently in police custody include Francis Amuzu, aged 44; William Adison, aged 36; and Vincent Adzikah, aged 34.
According to a police situational report, the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call from an unidentified person who reported that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of angry individuals near ECG, Lashibi, on Friday, February 27.
The District Patrol Team promptly proceeded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a young man identified as Austin Tengeeh, a 26-year-old Liberian national, lying unconscious with visible signs of assault around his neck and head.
Investigations suggest that the mob mistakenly identified the victim as a thief.
The victim was quickly transported to the Sakumono Community Hospital for medical care, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The body of the deceased has since been placed at the Sakumono Community Hospital while the necessary diplomatic protocols are being observed.
