The 2026 summer transfer window has ended, bringing an end to another busy period for Ghanaian footballers across Europe and beyond.
The Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 officially closed their transfer windows last night, September 1, with clubs completing several late deals.
Clubs across England, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France can no longer buy new players until January.
A number of Ghanaian players secured permanent moves, free transfers and loan deals as clubs strengthened their squads ahead of the new season.
One of the biggest Ghanaian transfers of the window was Caleb Yirenkyi, who moved from FC Nordsjælland in Denmark to Coventry City in England for €27 million, with a further €3 million in add-ons.
The 20-year-old midfielder became Coventry’s record signing after impressing for both club and country.
Fatawu Issahaku also secured a permanent move, leaving Leicester City for Ipswich Town in England in a deal worth €20 million plus €3 million in potential add-ons.
In France, Kojo Oppong Peprah left Nice for Turkish giants Fenerbahçe for €12 million, while Elisha Owusu moved from Auxerre to Erzurumspor in Turkey for €1 million.
There were also several free transfers involving experienced Ghanaian players. Thomas Partey moved from Villarreal in Spain to Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, while Kwasi Sibo left Real Oviedo in Spain for Libya’s Al-Swehly.
Gideon Mensah moved from Auxerre to FC Köln in Germany, while Abdul Mumin left Rayo Vallecano for Girona, both on free transfers.
Derrick Luckassen also left Pafos FC in Cyprus for Crvena Zvezda in Serbia without a transfer fee, while Tariq Lamptey moved from Fiorentina in Italy to QPR in England on a free transfer.
Other notable moves included David Oduro, who left Barcelona for FC Annecy in France for an undisclosed fee.
Joseph Opoku moved from Zulte Waregem in Belgium to Swansea City in Wales for €6.5 million, while Jerry Afriyie joined Genk in Belgium from Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia for €6 million.
Young Ghanaian talent Oscar Naasei moved from Granada to Real Madrid Castilla for €2 million, while Aziz Issah joined Barcelona Atlètic from Dreams FC for an undisclosed fee.
There were also two loan moves. Ibrahim Sulemana moved from Atalanta to Sassuolo, while Mohammed Fuseini left Union Saint-Gilloise for Derby County on loan.
