Prince Yaw Owusu was appointed as interim coach earlier in the season following the departure of Karim Zito, who left the role amid a string of inconsistent performances.
His appointment was seen as a stabilising measure by the club’s hierarchy as they sought to steady results and restore confidence within the squad.
During his time in charge, Owusu oversaw a mixed run of results in the Ghana Premier League.
While there were moments of promise, including improved attacking play and a few crucial wins, consistency remained a challenge for the Porcupine Warriors.
His tenure was marked by efforts to rebuild team morale and integrate younger players into the squad, a move that earned him praise in some quarters despite the club’s fluctuating form.
Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, have endured a turbulent campaign, with frequent changes in technical leadership impacting their push for silverware.
Owusu’s resignation adds another chapter to what has been a challenging season for the Kumasi-based side.
In the wake of his departure, the club has announced that Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng will take charge of the senior team on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.
The club indicated that further arrangements regarding the technical bench will be communicated in due course.
