Ghana’s Black Princesses produced an impressive performance to defeat South Korea 3-1 in their second Group C match at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Ghanaian side started the game with purpose and created an early opportunity through Agnes Yeboah. However, her effort was saved by the South Korean goalkeeper.
The Black Princesses continued to push forward in search of the opening goal but could not break through before the end of the first half. Both teams went into the break with the score level at 0-0.
Ghana returned from the break with greater determination and eventually found the breakthrough in the 52nd minute.
Sarah Nyarko produced a superb long-range strike to put the Black Princesses ahead and give the team a much-needed boost.
Just three minutes later, Ghana doubled their advantage through Ivy Osei Owusu.
The forward showed great individual skill on the right side before beating the goalkeeper with a clever chip to make it 2-0.
South Korea struggled to respond as Ghana remained in control of the game. The Black Princesses continued to create chances and eventually added a third goal in the 84th minute.
Substitute Ruth Amponsah completed a well-worked team move from the centre of the pitch to extend Ghana’s lead to three goals.
South Korea managed to score a consolation goal in added time, but it was not enough to change the outcome.
The Black Princesses held on to secure a convincing 3-1 victory and claim an important three points.
The result gives Ghana renewed confidence ahead of their final Group C match.
The Black Princesses will now turn their attention to France, with the two teams scheduled to meet on September 12, 2026.
