Black Starlets striker Alidu Issah has been named Player of the Match following his impressive display in Ghana’s 3-1 victory over Benin at the ongoing WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
Issah delivered a decisive performance, scoring twice in the opening eight minutes to propel Ghana towards their second consecutive victory in the regional competition.
The forward opened the scoring just four minutes into the encounter before doubling the advantage in the eighth minute, giving head coach Kassim Ocansey’s side an early two-goal cushion.
His quick-fire brace put the Starlets in a commanding position and demonstrated his clinical finishing as Ghana sought to strengthen their campaign in the tournament.
Benin managed to pull a goal back as the contest progressed, but Ghana responded to restore their two-goal advantage through Nii Odoi Tawiah, who finished after being set up by Prince Apam.
The Starlets held on to secure a 3-1 win, with Issah’s early goals providing the foundation for the important result.
The Player of the Match recognition rewards the striker’s decisive contribution and highlights his growing importance to Ghana’s attacking efforts at the championship.
The victory also strengthened the Black Starlets’ push for success in the WAFU Zone B competition, which serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
