According to an eyewitness, Kweku Yeboah, a vehicle rammed into the tree, which caused it to break and crush the tricycle.
“The tree had been weakened for three days now after a long vehicle truck crashed into it,” he said.
“We tried our best to get the attention of authorities at The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly KMA to help cut it cut it down but all our efforts proved futile”.
National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) personnel from the region later arrived to clear the debris from the area.
Tree accidents have been rampant in the last few weeks due to heavy rains.
The incident happened after torrential rainfall in several parts of Accra on Monday, May 6.
The heavy wind caused the tree to uproot, slamming into the front of the Toyota SUV with registration number GE—685-14 and directly onto the motor rider.
Emergency responders from the Ghana National Fire Service (GHNFS) swiftly arrived at the scene.
Using chainsaws, they worked to lift the tree and removed the vehicles that were trapped beneath.
