One person has died while another is in critical condition after a timber log fell on their motorcycle at Oppongkrom, in the Asunafo North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
The accident happened on May 22, 2024, when the rider and pillion rider were escorting a truck carrying the logs.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck had no lights, so the motorcycle led it to illuminate its path.
While in motion, a timber log fell from the truck and landed on them.
The rider, identified as 30-year-old Addei Iliasu, died on the spot.
The pillion rider, 32-year-old Mershack Acquah however, sustained injuries to the leg and was rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.

The Ahafo Regional Police PRO, Inspector Kwadwo Boakye, confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation is underway.
This comes after two people reportedly lost their lives in a tragic accident at Gomoa Simbrofo in the Gomoa West District on the Winneba-Mankesim Highway of the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that a Sprinter bus with registration GT 5873-09 which was fully loaded from Kaneshie to Takoradi lost control after one of its back tyres burst.
The driver struggled to maintain control of the vehicle, but eventually veered off the road and ran into a tree.
Two people reportedly died on the spot.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to assist the injured passengers.
Several passengers who sustained various degrees of injury were transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
