The State Housing Company (SHC) Limited has given unauthorised occupants of its lands a final two-day deadline to vacate, following the expiry of an earlier 21-day ultimatum.
The directive comes ahead of a nationwide operation to reclaim state lands that have been encroached upon.
Addressing a press conference in Accra, SHC Deputy Managing Director Samuel Atukwei Quaye said individuals with legitimate claims to the affected properties still have the opportunity to regularise their ownership before enforcement measures begin.
The company has also urged prospective land buyers to confirm ownership directly with SHC before making any payments to avoid purchasing state lands unlawfully.
Mr Quaye warned that, unlike previous occasions when similar announcements failed to result in concrete action, the company was determined to enforce its directive this time.
“Over the years, when some of these press conferences and calls are made, they don’t see action on the ground, but this time, they might be sleeping on their wrong side because we will be taking serious action.
“We are no longer going to sleep, and we are not going to renege on our responsibilities, and that is why we are appealing to Ghanaians for people to do the needful”.
