The Bekwai Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced a 37-year-old security guard, Mohammed Abubakari, popularly known as Wofa Abu, to 15 years in prison for defiling an eight-year-old girl at Anyinam, near Ahenema Kokoben.
The court convicted Abubakari after he admitted committing the offence in his caution statement during police investigations.
According to the prosecution, the incident happened on June 27, 2026, when the accused allegedly lured the victim and her friend to his security post by telling them he wanted them to run an errand for him.
The prosecution explained that Abubakari later separated the two girls by asking the friend to wait at another location before taking the eight-year-old into a kitchen, where he sexually assaulted her.
The incident was later reported after the victim opened up to friends, who informed her mother about what had happened.
The mother then reported the case to the police on July 11, 2026.
Police arranged medical examination and treatment for the child at the Suntreso Government Hospital after issuing her a medical form. A medical report from the hospital confirmed that.
The presiding judge, His Honor Issac Appiatu therefore sentenced Mohammed Abubakari to 15 years in prison with hard labour.
