The National Premix Fuel Secretariat has announced a temporary interruption in the supply of premix fuel due to an ongoing strike by members of the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union.
The tanker drivers initiated the sit-down strike on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in response to the deteriorating condition of the 7.2-kilometre Valco Roundabout–Kpone Junction road in Tema.
The drivers assert that the poor condition of the road presents significant safety hazards, especially as they transport highly flammable petroleum products through the region.
In a notice to stakeholders dated September 3, 2026, the Secretariat indicated that the strike has impacted the distribution of premix fuel, which may disrupt supplies to users reliant on the product.
“The ongoing strike by the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has temporarily affected the supply of premix fuel,” the Secretariat stated.
The Secretariat mentioned that efforts are being made to resolve the situation and expressed hope that the strike would conclude soon.
It extended its apologies to stakeholders for the inconvenience and reassured them of its dedication to ensuring an adequate and dependable supply of premix fuel.
The disruption may hinder access to premix fuel for fishing communities and other users who depend on the product for their operations, although the Secretariat did not specify the extent or duration of the disruption.
The National Premix Fuel Secretariat encouraged stakeholders to remain patient as efforts to address the issues related to the strike continue.
