Police probe assault on Graphic staff by officers at Teshie

The Nungua District Police Command has initiated an investigation into an alleged assault involving suspected police officers, following a complaint lodged by a resident of Teshie in Accra.

This investigation was prompted by a report indicating that Alidu Mahama, a staff member of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL), was allegedly assaulted by several officers from the Nungua Police Station after being mistaken for an armed robber at GREDA Estate in Accra.

Mahama reported the incident to the Police on July 14, 2026, presenting visible injuries.

In a statement released on Friday, July 17, 2026, the Accra Regional Police Command confirmed that preliminary investigations had begun and that a statement had been obtained from the complainant.

“A Police medical report form has been issued to facilitate his medical examination and treatment to support ongoing investigations,” the statement said.

The Command indicated that efforts were being made to identify the officers allegedly involved in the incident for questioning and any necessary further action.

It reassured the public that the situation was being addressed with the seriousness it warranted and that any officer found responsible would face appropriate sanctions under the law and Police disciplinary procedures.

“The Accra Regional Police Command assures the public that the matter is being treated with the utmost seriousness and that any officer found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law and Police disciplinary procedures,” it said.
