Chairman-elect of the Afigya Sekyere East constituency, Kwaku Ofosu, has criticised the party leadership regarding the ambiguity surrounding their elections.
He stated that the elections conducted are a genuine representation of the constituency’s will, which cannot be altered.
He clarified that all rules and regulations pertaining to the election were adhered to, and even those who lost the elections acknowledged this.
Furthermore, he mentioned that there was no communication indicating that their constituency was prohibited from organizing its elections.
Thus, it is surprising that their election is being declared invalid.
“All those we contested have accepted that the elections in Afigya Sekyere East were free and fair. I say this because they are here to support us. We did not receive any notification that we should not hold an election. We saw a notice that elections should not be held in Afigya Sekyere East and Asante Akyem Central cannot vote.
For us we did not receive any notification that we cannot vote. But Asante Akyem voted, and Afigya Sekyere East also voted, but nothing has been said about Asante Akyem Central, so do they want to tell us they don’t want our vote in Afigya Sekyere East? We are going to do all we can as executives to ensure that we win the 2028 elections for Dr Mahamdu Bawumia,” he stated.
