Minority Suspends Planned BoG Demo

The Minority in Parliament has suspended its planned protest against the Governor of the Bank of Ghana(BoG), Dr Ernest Addison.

The protest was scheduled for September 5, 2023, to demand the resignation of the Governor of the central bank and his deputies over alleged mismanagement.

This comes after the court hearing the police application for an injunction adjourned the case to Friday, September 8, 2023.

The police filed an application at the court following the refusal of the Minority to change the route for its planned protest.

The MPs had initially proposed to start from the front of Parliament House and end directly at the Bank of Ghana Headquarters in Accra.

But the police, after a security assessment, recommended that they change the route in the interest of public security and order.

However, the Minority firmly rejected these assertions.

The police then filed an application to stop the protest while the Minority filed a counter-affidavit in response.

Meanwhile, Minority Leader Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has assured that the protest will come off after the court delivers its ruling on the injunction application.
