The Central North Regional Police Command has secured the conviction of Frank Owusu, popularly known as “Lifer,” for armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm, following his role in a violent attack at Assin Praso in the Central Region.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred on March 29, 2025, when Owusu broke into a victim’s home at Assin Praso.
Armed with a locally manufactured pistol, he threatened the victim and made away with GH₵1,950 in cash along with other personal belongings.
Although he fled the scene, abandoning his weapon, police investigations led to his identification and subsequent placement on the wanted list. On September 27, 2025, officers arrested him at his hideout in Assin Nyankomase, where the victim later confirmed his identity.
Owusu was charged and arraigned before the Nsuaem Kyekyewere Circuit Court on October 1, 2025.
He pleaded guilty to both charges. Presiding Judge, His Lordship Justice Emmanuel Amo Yartey, sentenced him to two months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and 30 years imprisonment with hard labour for robbery.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
He has since been transferred to Ankaful Prisons to begin his custodial term.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to aggressively pursue robbery cases and ensure offenders face the full force of the law.
