Ghanaian Teenager Jailed In UK For Pouring Hot Water On Her Friend Over Boyfriend
A UK court has sentenced an 18-year-old Ghanaian lady, Princess Owusu-Ansah, to three years in prison for pouring hot water on her friend.
She was said to have poured the scalding water on the victim and stabbed her over an alleged affair with her boyfriend on February 2, 2023.
On the day of the incident, Owusu-Ansah, who lives in Royston, Hertfordshire, showed up at the victim’s home in East Dulwich in southeast London and attacked her.
She filmed the incident in a video that went viral on the popular social media site Snapchat.
In the video, she could be heard cursing the victim, accusing her of cheating with her partner, and acting like there would be no consequence.
The victim could also be seen cowering under a blanket and screaming as Owusu-Ansah grabbed a kettle of boiling water and threw it over her.
She punched the victim several times before grabbing a knife to stab her in the leg.
The victim escaped and was rushed to the Kings College Hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Concerned community members who had seen the video reported the incident to the Metropolitan Police, and the suspect was arrested on February 5.
Owusu-Ansah was put before the Croydon Magistrates’ Court, where she pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage, and theft.
On her second appearance before the court on May 9, 2023, she was given a three-year jail term at a young offenders’ institute.
