Hearts of Oak registered a 1-0 win over Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium despite playing over an hour with 10 men after Emmanuel Amankwah’s dismissal from the game.
Losing to Hearts was Kotoko’s fourth in their last five games with its sole win coming in a 3-1 victory over Basake Holy Stars.
Interim head coach for Kotoko, Prince Owusu in a post-game interview blamed goalkeeper Mohammed Camara for the mistake that led to Baba Adamu’s goal and chastised his team’s lack of composure.
The poor run means Kotoko stay in fifth place while Hearts of Oak climb from fourth place to second place.
The Phobians have 39 points while league leaders Medeama have 44 points after Medeama drew 1-1 with Aduana Stars.
Hearts take on Berekum Chelsea next on Sunday, February 22 while Kotoko take on Young Apostles.
