GCAA assures passengers of uninterrupted flights amid strike threat

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has moved to allay public fears of possible flight disruptions following a strike threat by the Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) scheduled for Thursday, October 30.

In a statement, the Authority assured airlines, aviation stakeholders, and passengers that contingency measures have been put in place to ensure safe and uninterrupted air traffic operations across the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR).

According to the GCAA, management had anticipated the strike and activated its CNS/ATM Systems Contingency Plan, which is designed to keep Ghana’s airspace open and fully functional.

The plan outlines detailed operational procedures, emergency response teams, and coordination protocols to safeguard flight safety and prevent any disruption to air navigation services.

The Authority further urged the travelling public to remain calm, emphasising that both domestic and international flights would continue as scheduled during the planned industrial action.

“The Authority remains fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of air navigation service delivery and ensuring the safety and security of all flights within Ghana’s airspace,” the statement said.

It added that the GCAA remains dedicated to promoting staff welfare and professional development as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, stable, and efficient aviation sector.
