A ride-hailing driver affiliated with Bolt has allegedly been attacked by a man in military uniform over a traffic dispute in Accra.
The incident happened when the Bolt driver pointed out a traffic offense by some soldiers in a 4×4 vehicle.
The driver, after cautioning the military personnel about their driving behaviour, was subjected to a stabbing and physical assault by one of the members who stepped out of the car.
Michelle Frimpong, a passenger who was in the Bolt said the victim was quickly rushed to Deseret Hospital in Santa Maria, Accra due to the severity of the attack leading to severe injuries.
“There was this 4×4 that was behind us, and he did a wrongful overtaking and got in the middle of the road… the bolt driver stretched out his hand and touched the back of his car”, she noted in an interview with Citi.
She continued, “Then this man came down, opened the door of our car, and pulled the bolt driver out of the car. Then the soldier guy came out of the car, pulled him back, and closed the car.”
She emphasized the escalation, noting that “he was stabbed so when I got out of the passenger’s side I realized blood oozing out of his head. So we had to rush him to the hospital.”
