‘Anas Aremeyaw Anas To Appear In Court Without Mask Not True’- Lawyers

The lawyers of the ace undercover investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas have urged the general public to disregard a reportage by the media concerning their client appearing in court without his trademark face beads.

The lawyers in a press release dated November 8, 2022, indicated that “their attention has been drawn to developments in the ongoing criminal trial of the former head of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi who is standing trial for corruption and fraud over the #Number12 investigative report aired in 2018. The documentary undercovered football-related corruption in Ghana and other African countries”

According to the lawyers, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has agreed to testify in the stead of Ahmed Suale who was gruesomely murdered by unknown assailants weeks before his testimony in court. Ahmed Suale contributed to the production of the documentary on the  #Number12 exposé.

Meanwhile, the lawyers have indicated that” Anas may choose to testify as a prosecution witness or not” on the matter.

The legal firm also added that ” Anas and his Tiger Eye team will continue to wear the iconic face beads as a symbol of impartial anonymity in investigative journalism and to highlight the extreme risks in that line of duty”.
