Agona West NPP strips two executives of their positions
Agona West NPP indefinitely suspends two executives
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Agona West constituency in the Central region has indefinitely suspended two executives over alleged misconduct.
A letter sighted by theghanareport.com said the matters “had been referred to the constituency disciplinary committee for further action”.
The affected members are Sylvester Appiah, who was the electoral coordinator and Daniel Kojo Kratia who was the youth organiser.
The letter gave no details of the nature of the misconduct and the decision came close to two weeks to the December 7 general elections.
But since that election which the NPP won, there had been calls within the governing NPP for members whose actions undermined the party’s fortunes ahead of the December 7 elections to be sanctioned.
In line with this, the party suspended seven of its members in the Sissala West constituency.
The seven were alleged to have campaigned against the NPP its parliamentary candidate for Sissala West, Naliwie Salifu, ahead of the 2020 polls.
They are George Hika-Benson, Mohammed Zackaria Bakar, Majeed Limann, Hudu Mua, Musah Wibireh, Bahua Abudu and Halidu Yahaya.
Mr. Hika-Benson was a minister under the Kufour administration while Mr. Zakaria Bakor was sacked as the District Chief Executive for Sissala West on the 29th of September 2020.
The suspension was in line with Article 3 (7, 1) of the NPP’s constitution which states that “a member may be suspended from membership of the party, or holding an office in the party, pending an inquiry into his or her conduct by a Disciplinary Committee.”
