The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old man, Saviour Dzadze, over alleged death threats, unlawful possession of firearms and the cultivation of suspected Indian hemp.
The suspect was arrested on October 14, 2026, at the Kpando Circuit Court premises, where police identified and apprehended him.
According to the police, the arrest followed a complaint lodged by Dzodzi Kofi Kpakpamikpe on October 8, alleging that Dzadze had threatened to kill him at gunpoint.
A search conducted at the suspect’s residence reportedly led to the retrieval of an AK-47 assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, 10 AAA Lion cartridges and quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police investigations further revealed that Dzadze allegedly exchanged cultivated Indian hemp for the AK-47 rifle with an unidentified man from Togo.
He reportedly received the pump-action shotgun from his brother, Foster Dzadze, in Accra, while the locally manufactured gun was inherited from his late father, Mathereous Dzadze.
The suspect is in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts are underway to arrest other individuals believed to be connected to the case.
Police said the suspect was expected to be arraigned before court as investigations continue.
