Founder and Apostle General of Royalhouse Chapel International, Sam Korankye Ankrah, has warned women against entering into relationships with abusive or narcissistic partners, urging them to pay close attention to warning signs that may emerge early.
Speaking in an interview, the respected man of God said some abusive men may initially present themselves as respectable, well-educated and well-mannered, making it difficult for women to recognise their behaviour before committing to a relationship.
He explained that these men may gradually erode their partners’ confidence and subject them to verbal, emotional and physical abuse after marriage.
“People who are abusive, the narcissistic man, sociopath and psychopath, they look genuine, they speak well, dress well and are well educated,” he said in an interview monitored by The Ghana Report on Channel One TV.
According to Korankye Ankrah, a key difficulty in dealing with narcissistic individuals is that they often refuse to accept that they have a problem, making counselling, prayer and other forms of intervention challenging.
He noted that such individuals frequently believe they are right and place the blame for problems on others, making it difficult for their partners or families to help them change.
Against this backdrop, Korankye Ankrah encouraged women to take early signs of anger and abusive behaviour seriously instead of assuming they will eventually disappear.
“I want to let the women know that such men are growing in the numbers and so watch out for the red flags. Any slight anger issues, pull the brakes, hold on, wait for a long time,” he cautioned, warning that troubling behavioural patterns that appear early in a relationship can become harder to address over time.
He therefore advised women to put their safety and wellbeing first by distancing themselves from abusive partners rather than staying in relationships with the hope that their partners will eventually change.
