The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued a final notice to traders, garage operators, businesses and other occupants within the designated project area at Abrepo Junction and adjoining sections to vacate the area by Sunday, October 4, 2026.
The notice is to pave the way for preparatory and enabling works under Phase One of the Suame Interchange Project.
According to the KMA, Phase Two of the project is currently 87% complete and is expected to be opened to traffic in October 2026. Its completion will allow intensive works on Phase One to begin.
The Assembly said preparatory works at Abrepo would include the relocation of affected utility infrastructure, including Ghana Water Company pipelines and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) lines, alongside preparations for traffic management within the project corridor.
KMA said affected stakeholders had previously been engaged and given notice to relocate voluntarily to facilitate the commencement of the works.
However, the Assembly warned that enforcement action would begin from Thursday, October 8, 2026, if occupants fail to comply with the deadline.
A designated demolition and enforcement team will remove unauthorised structures, goods, equipment, building materials and other items left within the project area.
Affected traders requiring alternative spaces have been directed to the Racecourse Market, while garage operators can contact the Works Engineer at the market for assistance with relocation.
