Gyakie explains viral “once it gets inside, you’ll feel it” comment

Ghanaian singer Gyakie has clarified her viral “once it gets inside, you’ll feel it” comment, saying she was referring to the emotional experience of listening to music.

The comment had sparked reactions on X after some users interpreted the wording as having a suggestive meaning.

it was me talking about music being injected and I am feeling good
Speaking at the recent OkayAfrica Culture Cafe at Jambo Spaces in Accra, Gyakie explained that she was using the idea of music being “injected” into someone to describe the sensation created by a record.

“If you put the record player in there, you’re gonna hear the music and you’re gonna feel it. So it was me talking about music being injected and I am feeling good,” she said.

Gyakie said the statement was therefore about how listeners experience music rather than the interpretation some social media users attached to it.

The singer also disclosed plans for a new live show in December, although she has yet to announce the date.

“I’m so happy that all this is going to happen this year because it’s been a long time coming. The show is happening this December. We are here to announce the dates but be on the lookout because I’m going to announce the dates soon,” she said.

Gyakie further announced that she is preparing a new EP and has a new single scheduled for release “very, very soon”.
