Ghanaian-Dutch musician Fadu is set to represent Ghana at this year’s World Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
The international event, scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, September 11 to 17, 2026, will bring together about 10,000 young leaders and participants from nearly 190 countries.
For Fadu, the festival presents another opportunity to introduce her music to a global audience.
The World Youth Festival, one of the largest international youth gatherings of its kind, will be held under the theme “Follow Your Dream”.
The 2026 edition is being organised under Russia’s national project on Youth and Children, building on the legacy of the World Youth Festival held in the Sirius Federal Territory in 2024.
That edition attracted about 20,000 young people from 190 countries, while a subsequent World Youth Festival in Novgorod brought together young people from 120 countries.
This year’s festival will feature participants from creative industries, media, science, technology, public administration, sports and entrepreneurship.
The artiste, whose real name is Faduad Hammond, recently released the video of her latest single, Body, said she was keen on taking her music beyond borders and reaching audiences in different parts of the world.
She explained that inspired the incorporation of electric guitar into Body as the instrument has been an important part of her musical identity since childhood.
“I added electric guitar on Body because it has always been a big part of my identity. I started playing the guitar at a young age and became obsessed with it from that moment on.
“I know the audiences at the festival will enjoy the distinctive sound,” she stated.
Fadu was a nominee at the Ghana Music Awards Europe in 2024/2025 and has released songs including Go Away, Ride4U, Follow Me, Feelings, Number 1, Desire, Far Away and Party, all available on digital streaming platforms.
She has also performed at a number of events in Ghana and abroad, including the MIM Life Concert in Tema and the Dr Likee Show in London earlier this year.
Fadu’s participation at the festival is expected to provide the emerging artiste with a platform to connect with young creatives from around the world while showcasing her music to an international audience.
