The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared all 47 aspirants who filed to contest various positions in the party’s 2026 national elections.
The National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC) completed the vetting exercise on September 3, 2026, after sitting from August 31 to September 3.
According to the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), the vetting panel reviewed documents submitted by the aspirants, engaged them during the exercise and assessed their eligibility under the rules governing the elections.
Following the exercise, all 47 aspirants were recommended as eligible and suitable to contest the positions for which they filed their nominations.
The aspirants are contesting nine national executive positions, including National Chairman, National Vice-Chairperson, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and National Communications Director.
Four aspirants have been cleared for National Chairman, 13 for National Vice-Chairperson, four for General Secretary and four for National Treasurer.
The National Organiser position has eight cleared aspirants, while six will contest National Youth Organiser.
Two have been cleared for National Women’s Organiser, five for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser and one for National Communications Director.
The next stage of the process is the balloting for positions on the ballot paper, scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the NPP Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.
The NOEC said aspirants may participate in the balloting personally or through duly authorised representatives, with specific times for each position to be communicated.
The committee has urged aspirants, their supporters and party members to maintain discipline and promote unity as preparations continue towards the elections.
