Forty-seven out of the 50 candidates who acquired nomination forms to participate in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections have successfully completed the filing process.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) announced that the filing exercise concluded at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
However, three candidates did not finish the process.
They include Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who had shown interest in the National Chairperson position; Evans Kodom, a contender for National Communications Director; and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who obtained a nomination form to run for the National Women Organiser position.
As per the NOEC, Mr. Boasiako later withdrew his candidacy, while Mr. Kodom withdrew during the submission of Dennis Miracles Aboagye’s nomination. Conversely, Ms. Akwada did not submit her completed forms before the deadline.
This situation leaves Mr. Aboagye as the only candidate for the National Communications Director position.
However, he must successfully navigate the vetting process and meet all relevant requirements before his candidacy can be confirmed as unopposed.
The vetting of the 47 candidates is set to commence on Monday, August 31, and conclude on Thursday, September 3.
The exercise will be overseen by a Vetting Committee led by former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Candidates vying for the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary, and National Treasurer will present before the committee on Monday.
Aspirants for National Vice Chairperson will be vetted on Tuesday, followed by candidates for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser on Wednesday.
The final day, Thursday, will be reserved for candidates for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser, and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC has reiterated its commitment to conducting an “orderly, fair, transparent and credible” election process.
It has also appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to uphold party unity and help build confidence in the electoral process.
