16 young referees selected for 2026 XI DOL Super Cup

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has selected 16 young referees to officiate the 2026 XI DOL Super Cup, which is scheduled to take place at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

The selected officials comprise eight centre referees and eight assistant referees who will handle the various matches during the competition.

Their selection forms part of the GFA’s continued efforts to identify, train and expose young referees to competitive football at an early stage of their careers.

The XI DOL Super Cup has become an important platform for the association’s “Catch Them Young Referees” initiative.

The programme gives promising officials the opportunity to gain practical experience while working in a competitive environment.

Through the tournament, the young referees are able to improve their decision-making, match control and understanding of the laws of the game.

The 2026 competition will be the fifth edition of the XI DOL Super Cup, with the GFA maintaining its focus on developing the next generation of Ghanaian football officials.

The tournament brings together clubs from the Division One League and provides an important opportunity for players, coaches and officials to prepare for the new football season.

The GFA has in recent years placed greater emphasis on developing young referees as part of efforts to strengthen officiating at different levels of the game.

The association believes early exposure to competitive matches can help talented officials gain the confidence and experience required to progress to higher levels.
