The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting that claimed the life of a 54-year-old man and left his wife injured at Tuba, near Weija, in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects have been identified as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon. Their arrests followed investigations into the shooting incident, which occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026.
According to the police, the Weija Police received information that a man and his wife had been shot and wounded at the Beach Drive Estate, Tuba.
A police team was dispatched to the scene, where they found Mohammed Rahman and his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, suffering from gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The two victims were rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija for medical attention. Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, while his wife was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.
The deceased’s body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary, pending an autopsy.
The police said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of Adams Adder Almeida, who allegedly admitted to shooting Rahman and his wife during interrogation.
According to the police statement, the suspect claimed that he was motivated by his perception that Rahman had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless,” which he said had affected him mentally.
Investigators subsequently followed Adams to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol allegedly used in the shooting was retrieved from beneath the wardrobe.
Police investigations further established that Adams and Bala lived together in the same room at Tuba.
Bala, who reportedly works with the deceased, was subsequently arrested and is assisting the police with investigations.
Adams also told investigators that the firearm had allegedly been given to him by his friend, Gideon.
Police visited Gideon’s residence at Tuba but did not find him there.
Efforts are ongoing to locate Gideon as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
