The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has entered the final phase of its nationwide Talent Identification Programme (TID), bringing the country one step closer to discovering the next generation of football stars.
The final assessment, led by the GFA’s Technical Directorate, will assemble the most promising young players who impressed scouts during the first two stages of the nationwide exercise.
These selected players will undergo a comprehensive evaluation to determine those who will gain admission into the GFA’s Elite Academy Schools at Bolgatanga Senior High School, Prempeh College in Kumasi and Achimota School in Accra.
The final selection exercise will begin in Accra, where players from the Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta regions will be assessed.
The scouting team will then continue through the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions, the Northern Region, before concluding the exercise in the Western and Central regions.
According to the GFA, the final stage is designed to test the players in a competitive environment, allowing trained and accredited lead and support scouts to evaluate their technical ability, tactical awareness, physical development and overall potential.
The Talent Identification Programme has become one of the Association’s flagship youth development projects, providing talented boys and girls across Ghana with an equal opportunity to showcase their abilities regardless of where they come from.
The initiative seeks to ensure that gifted players from every region have a clear pathway into elite football development programmes.
A key feature of the programme is its emphasis on balancing education with football. The Elite Academy Schools offer quality academic education alongside professional football training, enabling students to pursue their sporting ambitions without sacrificing their education.
The initiative also prepares young athletes for future opportunities in professional football, higher education and life beyond the game.
Since its introduction, the Talent Identification Programme has produced several promising players who have gone on to represent regional teams, Premier League clubs and Ghana’s youth national teams.
The 2026 edition marks the fourth consecutive year that outstanding young footballers have been selected into the Elite Academy Schools, underlining the Football Association’s continued commitment to investing in youth development and securing the future of Ghanaian football.
