Adwoa Safo insists Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s funeral begins July 30

Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has rejected claims that the burial arrangements for her late father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, remain unsettled.

She said the funeral plans are already in place and confirmed that the burial will take place on Thursday, July 30.

Her comments follow an announcement by her brother, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, the Head of the Safo Family and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana.

At a press conference, he said disagreements surrounding the funeral arrangements had not been resolved and that the family could therefore not confirm a date for the burial.

However, speaking on Accra-based Angel FM, Mrs Adwoa Safo disputed her brother’s account. She said the funeral committee had completed its preparations after consulting key stakeholders, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

She also claimed that the Head of the Safo Family failed to proceed with an earlier burial date set for June 25. According to her, that development resulted in the family settling on a new date in the final week of July.

Mrs Adwoa Safo outlined the schedule for the funeral and urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that the event had been cancelled.

“On the 30th of July, we will go to Gomoa Mpota to bury my late father. On the 31st of July, we will be at Independence Square to hold the funeral service.

“Then, on the 8th of August, we will travel to Asante Mampong in Kumasi for the thanksgiving service. So everyone should disregard the rumours that the funeral will not take place or that it has been cancelled,” she said.

She further disclosed that she had successfully undergone surgery after suffering gunshot injuries during the coronation of Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I.
