Black Starlets talent identification exercise moves to central region

The nationwide talent identification project for Ghana’s U-17 national team, the Black Starlets, will continue in the Central Region on July 2, 2026, as the search for the country’s next generation of football talents intensifies.

The scouting exercise will be led by head coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team. It will take place at the Senya Breku AstroTurf and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

Young footballers from various parts of the Central Region are expected to take part in the programme, which forms part of the early preparations for the next Black Starlets cycle. The exercise is aimed at identifying promising players who can be developed into future national team prospects.

According to the technical team, the scouting process will involve a series of assessment matches and drills. These activities are designed to evaluate players based on their technical skills, tactical awareness, physical fitness, and overall potential to compete at higher levels of the game.

The programme is specifically open to boys born in 2010 and 2011. Eligible players will have the chance to showcase their abilities in front of national team selectors, with the hope of earning a place in the next stage of the selection process.

Coach Mingle and his team will closely monitor performances throughout the exercise before compiling a shortlist of standout players. Those selected will move on to further assessments at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

The final stage of screening will allow the technical staff to conduct more detailed evaluations, helping them build a competitive squad for the next Black Starlets campaign.
