The Tatale-Sanguli District is mourning the loss of its roads engineer, who died after being attacked by a swarm of bees while supervising road construction works under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP).
The tragic incident happened on Monday, June 1, along the Tatale-Sanguli road, where workers were carrying out road improvement activities.
According to eyewitnesses, a large swarm of bees suddenly appeared and attacked the construction team. The workers ran in different directions to escape the stings.
Unfortunately, the district roads engineer was unable to get away. He suffered multiple bee stings and collapsed after being overwhelmed by the attack.
Officials from the National Ambulance Service quickly arrived at the scene and rushed him to the Tatale Hospital for treatment. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Tatale-Sanguli District DRIP Coordinator, who confirmed the incident, said the engineer was alone at the exact spot where the bees attacked.
His body has been transferred to the morgue at Yendi Municipal Hospital as authorities continue investigations and the family prepares for his burial.
