Newly appointed Black Stars assistant coach Roger De Sa, the South African, has expressed confidence in Ghana’s national team, insisting that the squad already has the quality needed to succeed and only requires unity and the right mentality to perform at its best.
Speaking about his new role with the Black Stars, De Sa said the main focus of the technical team is to build strong cohesion among the players rather than teaching them how to play football.
According to him, the players already understand the game and share a common objective of making Ghana proud on the international stage.
“I think we only need cohesion in the team. We are not going to teach them how to play since we are all working towards a common goal,” De Sa stated while speaking on Beyond the Whistle.
The experienced coach also stressed that the technical team’s mission is to bring happiness to Ghanaians through good performances and positive results.
“We are here to do our best and make Ghanaians happy. If Carlos does his job, there is none better than him,” he stated.
De Sa further revealed that accepting the opportunity to work with Ghana was an easy decision because of the country’s football history and the importance of the FIFA World Cup.
“Being called upon to assist Carlos was not a difficult decision because this is Ghana and it’s the World Cup we are talking about,” he added.
The assistant coach also highlighted the quality available in the Black Stars squad, saying the players only need proper guidance, correct positioning, and the right mindset to succeed.
“We have the players and we only have to put them in the right position and with the right frame of mind. When they put on the jersey, they should be able to perform,” De Sa said.
