The Ghana national football team have been drawn in Group C of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers alongside the Ivory Coast national football team, Gambia national football team and Somalia national football team.
The draw sets up a challenging qualifying campaign for the Black Stars as they aim to secure a return to the AFCON tournament after the disappointment of missing out on the 2025 edition.
Ghana will face strong competition from Côte d’Ivoire, the reigning African champions, who are expected to be one of the favourites in the group.
Gambia is also expected to provide a difficult test for Ghana. The Scorpions have improved significantly in recent years and have become one of the rising teams in African football following their impressive performances in recent continental competitions.
The Black Stars will head into the qualifiers determined to avoid another setback after failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
That disappointment led to heavy criticism from supporters and increased pressure on the team to bounce back strongly.
The qualifiers will be played over several international windows, with teams battling for places at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
