Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed that since he took over office, a backlog of 40,000 passports has been cleared.
Speaking in an interview, the minister stated that there is no backlog of passports like it used to be previously.
He added that this success was achieved by putting in place efficient systems across the board to ensure that these passports have been issued to their owner.
He disclosed that currently, Ghana has passport offices across the sixteen regions in the country to make the work more efficient.
“We don’t have any backlog now; the system is very efficient, and there are testimonies, and Ghanaians are impressed with the high level of professionalism and efficiency,” he said.
“For the first time in our country’s history, we have introduced a one-day passport service for emergencies. In a day, you’ll get your passport regardless of which part of Ghana you are” he added.
