Power outages due to upstream technical challenges – ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the widespread power outage which has affected parts of the Tema Region to an upstream technical challenge.

In a public notice issued on Friday, April 24, 2026, ECG informed customers that the disruption in electricity supply across sections of the region was linked to issues beyond its immediate control. The company noted that the outage began earlier in the day and has impacted both residents and businesses.

ECG assured the public that its engineering teams are actively working to resolve the problem. According to the statement, efforts are underway to restore power as quickly as possible once the upstream fault is addressed.

The company also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, acknowledging the disruption to daily activities and operations in affected areas.

Residents have been advised to remain patient while repair works continue. ECG has not yet provided a specific timeline for full restoration, but emphasised its commitment to resolving the issue promptly.
