Minority accuses NPRA CEO of doubling salary without board approval

The Minority in Parliament has accused National Pensions Regulatory Authority CEO Chris Boadi-Mensah of increasing his own salary without approval.

At a press conference on Thursday, April 16, the MP for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, claimed that Mr Boadi-Mensah doubled his salary shortly after taking office in February 2025.

He said this happened at a time when the NPRA board had not yet been formed.

He questioned whether the decision was lawful, explaining that such changes should go through the proper approval process within the organisation.

“A particularly disturbing issue has emerged. We are informed that Mr. Boadi-Mensah doubled his salary immediately upon assumption of office in February 2025 without board approval.

“When he was appointed in February, even without the existence of the board, and we are aware that the board was formed months after he was made the CEO, he doubled his salary in February 2025,” she said

Mr Assafuah also reminded the public that pension funds are not free money but savings that belong to Ghanaian workers for their future.

He warned that making decisions without proper approval could reduce public confidence in the country’s pension system.
