President John Mahama has appointed Mohammed Abdul-Salam as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
The announcement, contained in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, confirmed that the appointment took effect on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
Mr. Abdul-Salam, who currently serves as the Northern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), steps into the role following the resignation of Sammy Awuku.
Mr. Awuku, who resigned from his position as NLA CEO on January 13, 2025, is now the Member of Parliament for the Akuapim North constituency.
In his resignation letter, he requested the president to appoint a replacement to facilitate a smooth transition and handover process.
This leadership change at the NLA marks a significant shift as the organisation adjusts to new management under Abdul-Salam’s stewardship.
