IGP Yohuno decorates 19 senior police officers after promotions

The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has decorated 19 senior officers of the Ghana Police Service after their promotion to higher ranks, strengthening leadership within the Service.

The promotion, which was based on recommendations by the Police Council and approved by President John Dramani Mahama, was formalised during a ceremony held at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on March 17, 2026.

The exercise, conducted alongside members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), forms part of ongoing efforts to recognise merit, dedication, and long-standing service, while reinforcing command structures across both operational and administrative units.

Eight officers were elevated from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP). They include Dr. Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Frederick Agyei, Duuti Tuaruka, Arthur Osei-Akoto, Darko Offei Lomotey, Eric Ken Winful, Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Desmond Owusu Boampong.

Addressing the officers, the IGP congratulated them on their elevation and charged them to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

He emphasised that the promotions come with increased responsibility and expectations, particularly at a time when the Service is working to enhance public trust and improve security delivery across the country.
