A helicopter belonging to the Ghana Air Force has reportedly crashed at Bonsokrom in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
According to eyewitnesses, the helicopter, which is now restricted from public access by Air Force personnel, was reportedly carrying 14 individuals, including staff from the petroleum sector regulators.
The helicopter crashed into a bush near the Bonsokrom community, prompting concern among residents.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, reports say all passengers and crew aboard the aircraft have been safely rescued by Air Force personnel.
However, some passengers who sustained injuries were conveyed to the hospital for healthcare.
Details surrounding the helicopter’s departure point and the intended destination remain uncertain.
It is yet to be determined whether the helicopter was returning from offshore locations to Takoradi or was traversing from Takoradi to Accra when the incident occurred.
This unforeseen incident has sparked inquiries into the circumstances leading to the crash.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces have yet to comment on the matter.
