Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the immediate past Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has received high praise for his exemplary service from the Central Regional Chairman of the Peace Council and Bishop of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church, Very Reverend Richardson Aboagye Andam.
The commendation occurred during a funeral service at the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Mankessim on Saturday, March 15th, which Dr. Dampare attended.
In his sermon, Reverend Aboagye Andam expressed deep admiration for the former IGP’s significant contributions to the nation and emphasized the widespread recognition of his efforts.
“It’s surprising that my sermon somehow connects with the life of our former IGP, though I didn’t know he would be here today. I want to assure you, Dr. Dampare, that your works will never be in vain. Your good works, as witnessed by many Ghanaians, will be remembered,” he said.
The Bishop further acknowledged Dr. Dampare’s lasting impact on the country, especially his pivotal decision to ban police officers from carrying firearms to polling stations during elections.
“What you’ve done for this country will be remembered forever. May God bless you for your wisdom in preventing police officers from bringing guns to polling stations. It was God who guided you,” the Bishop remarked.
“You saved Ghana, and your reward will be great, both on earth and in heaven. Over time, many will come to appreciate your contributions even more,” he added.
