United States top final medal table after Tokyo Olympic Games
Team USA once again claimed the top spot in the medal table of an Olympics as they pipped China on the final day thanks to three golds.
The USA scooped gold medals in women’s basketball and women’s volleyball, while Jennifer Valente won in her event in track cycling.
The only Olympic Games the USA has failed to come on top in the table since Atlanta 1996 is Beijing 2008 where hosts China finished in the first place.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s 29-year wait for a medal came to an end when boxer Samuel Takyi secured a bronze medal in the men’s featherweight category.
