A 30-year-old motor rider has been crushed to death by a tipper truck at Kweku Ansah on the Awutu Bereku- Bontrase road in the Central Region.
The truck with the registration number GN 9592-17, fully loaded with sand was traveling from Awutu Ahentia towards Awutu Bereku while the deceased was also from the opposite direction.
According to eyewitnesses, Ebo Timothy who was into an ‘Okada’ business and a resident of Awutu Bentum was on his way home from work when the accident occurred.
They added that the speeding driver in an attempt to dodge potholes on the road crashed into Timothy and his motorbike killing him on the spot.
This infuriated his colleague riders who also ply the Awutu Bereku to Bontrase road.
They have threatened reprisal attacks should any of their colleagues be killed in such a manner again.
According to them, tipper truck drivers always drive recklessly on their roads without concern for human lives.
The Awutu Bereku Police Patrol Team led by Inspector Akrofi J. K conveyed the body to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital morgue.

According to data from the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), although the proportion of motorcycles involved in crashes reduced by 11.9 percent from 6,166 in 2021 to 5,432 in 2022, most of the fatalities on the road involved motorcyclists.
