Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, has given an optimistic update on the status of Thomas Partey, the Ghanaian midfielder who has been out of action due to an injury for almost five months.

Partey suffered a thigh injury in the lead-up to a UEFA Champions League group stage game against Sevilla in Spain and has missed significant time since then.

Ahead of Arsenal’s English Premier League match against Sheffield United, Arteta spoke to the press and noted that Partey has been participating in training sessions. This indicates that the former Atletico Madrid player is making progress and could soon return to action for The Gunners.

“Thomas had a session before the last game and now he’s done two consecutive sessions so he should be part of the squad on Monday.”

The Gunners have registered high-scoring wins in three straight games heading into the Sheffield game; Arsenal beat West Ham 6-0, Burnley 5-0 and Newcastle United respectively.

Arsenal has been in fine goal scoring form as the London side continues to push for a first Premier League title win in 21 years mainly without Partey who has played just four times this season.

Partey’s injuries forced him to miss Ghana’s campaign at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.
