Energy Minister John Jinapor has assured Ghanaians that the country is not facing a power deficit and that there is no ongoing load shedding, despite concerns raised by residents in parts of Accra and Kumasi over recent power outages.
In a Facebook post on Friday, January 30, the Minister said he had met with the leadership of key power sector institutions to review the current state of electricity supply across the country.
According to him, the discussions confirmed that Ghana has enough generation capacity to meet national demand.
Mr Jinapor noted that the country has not experienced load shedding for more than ten months, adding that power plants are producing adequate electricity to sustain homes, businesses and essential services.
He said claims of a return to dumsor were therefore inaccurate.
At the same time, the Minister acknowledged that some communities have been dealing with frequent and frustrating outages.
He explained that these disruptions are linked to operational and technical challenges within the distribution system rather than a shortage of power generation.
Responding to these concerns, Mr Jinapor said he had directed the relevant agencies to act swiftly.
The Energy Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to delivering reliable and uninterrupted electricity to all parts of the country.
He assured the public that ongoing challenges are being addressed with urgency and that efforts are focused on strengthening the system to prevent recurring outages.
He also called on consumers to remain patient as the agencies work to resolve the issues, stressing that a stable power supply remains a top priority for the government.
